Coming to Aylmer and the Sanderson Centre in Brantford!


The dream is alive — and we want YOU to be part of it!


Mavis Productions is thrilled to announce auditions for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s vibrant, high-energy musical that celebrates faith, family, and the power of dreams.


After an incredible run in Chatham and London in 2024, we’re taking this beloved show with a whole new production to Aylmer Ontario and to the stunning Sanderson Centre in Brantford — where almost 600 tickets have already been sold!

Prepare two contrasting musical theatre songs.

You may use one song from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (maximum one — please choose your second piece from another show).

Bring or provide a backing track or accompaniment.

Be ready to showcase your range, storytelling, and personality — we’re looking for performers who radiate joy, sincerity, and energy on stage!

🎭 Rehearsal and Show Information

Rehearsals will take place twice per week starting in December.

CURRENTLY, we are scheduled for Monday 630 - 930 pm (London) and Thursday 630 - 930 pm (Alymer).

This is subject to adjustments based on cast availability. Accommodations will be made for early dismissal for our children performers for evening rehearsals.

THIS IS ALSO AN OPEN AGE CASTING CALL. ALL performers of ALL AGES are welcome to audition.



JOSEPH


Vocal Range: Tenor (Low A2 – High G4)


Character: Dreamer, idealistic, earnest, and charismatic. The favorite son of Jacob, Joseph’s optimism and belief in his dreams carry him through hardship to triumph. Needs strong vocal stamina and genuine warmth.


Skills: Strong acting and storytelling through song; charm and emotional openness; comfortable leading large ensemble numbers.

NARRATOR


Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano (Low F#3 – High G5)


Character: Our guide through the story — witty, empathetic, and dynamic. The Narrator bridges the audience and the world of Joseph, keeping the pace and tone alive throughout.


Skills: Exceptional vocal control, clear diction, charisma; must command attention and handle a range of musical styles.

JACOB / POTIPHAR / ENSEMBLE


Vocal Range: Baritone (Low A2 – High D4)


Character:


Jacob: Patriarch of the family — loving but flawed.


Potiphar: A wealthy Egyptian noble; comedic authority figure.



Skills: Character actor with presence and versatility; comedic timing is key.

MRS. POTIPHAR / ENSEMBLE


Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano (B3 – E5)


Character: Glamorous and flirtatious; enjoys attention and mischief. Usually featured in “Potiphar” number.


Skills: Strong movement and acting; confident with physical comedy and sultry stage presence.

PHARAOH


Vocal Range: Baritone (Low B2 – High G#4)


Character: The Elvis-inspired ruler of Egypt! Larger than life, magnetic, and hilarious. A showstopper role requiring stage charisma and comedic flair.


Skills: Must be comfortable with parody, movement, and audience interaction; ability to channel an Elvis-style persona.

JOSEPH’S ELEVEN BROTHERS


(Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Naphtali, Issachar, Asher, Dan, Zebulun, Gad, Benjamin, Judah)


Vocal Range: Various (Tenor/Baritone)


Character: A lovable group of misfits — jealous, funny, and full of personality. Each brother has unique character moments and features in group numbers.


Skills: Strong ensemble singing, physicality, and comedic instincts; comfortable harmonizing and dancing.



Featured solos include:


Reuben – “One More Angel in Heaven” (Country/Western flair)


Simeon – “Those Canaan Days” (French cabaret style)


Judah – “Benjamin Calypso” (Caribbean style)

BUTLER & BAKER / ENSEMBLE


Vocal Range: Baritone/Tenor


Character: Two humorous, small but memorable cameo roles in Pharaoh’s court.


Skills: Comedic timing, clear character work, and willingness to play multiple ensemble parts.

WIVES / FEMALE ENSEMBLE


Vocal Range: Mezzo/Alto


Character: The wives of Jacob and other ensemble members in various scenes. Feature in “Go, Go, Go Joseph” and “Song of the King.”


Skills: Strong harmonies, movement, and energy; each performer should bring individuality to the ensemble.

Character: Adds youthful energy, joins in narration and large ensemble moments.
